OUR STORY
Meet Latricia Walker-West, CEO of Final Explosion Entertainment, NFP
After the murder of her kid’s father, Latricia was desperate to find positive activities for children to give them hope and inspiration again. The programs for the youth in the Austin area were scarce so she decided to create a program of her own, Final Explosion Team of Performing Arts. She gathered kids from her family and friends and created a small dance team that grew into a family of hundreds.
During their dance tenure, Final Explosion has built countless professional relationships, performed, and traveled across the US, hosted community events, and produced an innumerable amount of music videos. Their passion for dance transitioned into a love for music production. Recording music allows them to creatively express their everyday experiences through their music without risk of judgement or criticism. This gives everyone the opportunity to hear and understand what they are feeling and the challenges they are facing.
Established in 2009, Final Explosion Entertainment has been the premiere training ground for at-risk youth in the Austin area specializing in Creative and Performing Arts. Their YouTube channel has over 7 million views and 14,000+ subscribers and counting.
Latricia created the #50 States challenge to encourage young people to experience new cultures, enjoy beautiful scenery, learn new things about themselves and meet new people, all while relaxing from their busy school and dance schedules. They have visited 26 stated thus far and have been halted due to the rise in COVID-19.
During the pandemic, Latricia continued to work with the youth directing photo and video shoots, modeling, and promoting entrepreneurship. The family has been in the recording studio with some of Chicago’s popular producers creating some dope music. Each artist is working on releasing solo projects for their target audiences. Today, Latricia and Final Explosion Entertainment is celebrating their 14-year anniversary. This year they are hosting the Chicago Youth Awards, scheduled for July 21st5 where you will see live performances from The Final Explosion Family, their friends, and talented young people from across the Chicagoland area.
